toner refill OKI C5600

"unplug, er, that's it" approach

Eg. OKI C5600 / C5650/ C5800 toner refill

The easiest way to do a toner refill, but not always possible. Good for refills of more recent OKI toner cartridges like C5600, C5650, C5800, C5850 and their work-alikes. In a thickening of the plot, OKI started to produce some "un-unplugable" cartridges for some models from early 2009. We responded with free upgrades to our "melt & pour" toner refill approach (see below).
Also the toner refill method of choice for many Samsung mono cartridges, most Brother (including the superb HL-3040CN / HL-3070CW) and a smattering of toner refills from other manufacturers.
Look in the price list to see if your toner refill's an "unplug and pour".

"melt & pour" refilling

Eg. Hewlett Packard, Samsung colour

Melt your hole with the tool that comes in our dedicated starter kit. Pour the toner in and tape over the hole. Star applications include refills for the Hewlett Packard CP2025dn / CP2025n, Lexmark C522n, Samsung CLP-310 / CLP-315 and the HP CP1215 / CP1515n toner refill shown right.
Is your toner refill just a "melt & pour"? Look it up in the price list.
Tried and tested. We released "melt & pour" on an unsuspecting world 1996. And the toner cartridge industry laughed at us. Our customers laughed as well - all the way to the bank. Thanks to all of you who didn't knock it before you'd tried it.
Who's knocking it and who's trying it now? Try it with our electric melting tool for easy, precise hole-making. Combines with our bottle spout to make a NO MESS pouring system. That's NO MESS, even with micro fine toner. (Oh, OK. Depending on who's doing it, almost no mess, then.)
We did 32 refills and 19,006 test prints with our CP1215 printer before letting the product escape.
Samsung toner refill

The "unscrew, unplug & pour" toner refill

Eg. Samsung ML-2010 & ML-2240

Unscrew 2 screws in the case of this Samsung ML-2010 cartridge (left) to expose the toner refill plug (well, that's what we call it). Looking at cartridges globally, you could also be faced with 3, 4 or sometimes just a single screw before you can prise the plug out.
Is your cartridge a case of taking out a screw or two? Find out in the price list.
For technical reasons, for the Samsung ML-1910 / ML-1915 toner refill, we had to break ranks and make it a "melt & pour". The Samsung ML-1665 toner refill became the first of a new breed. See full information here.

U Refill Toner Ltd: The Rough Guide

1992: were running a small factory remanufacturing HP LaserJet II, IIP and IBM 4019 cartridges
1992: invented and sold world's first D.I.Y. toner refill kit for the HP LaserJet II SX cartridge
1996: invented new method of refilling single-skinned toner cartridges and coined its name, "melt & pour"
1997: sold first HP LaserJet 4 toner refill bottle featuring 8 micron toner particle size
1998: developed first ever colour toner refill kit (for the Canon CLBP360PS)
2000: after buying LaserJet 4000 toner refill kit and three bottles, a customer is so impressed that they, er, start their own "me too" company
2002: sold first ever Samsung ML-1210 toner refill bottle and put "unplug and pour" into internet vocabulary
2005: opened enlarged 900 sq ft applications and quality control lab
2006: did 37,552 test prints with Epson C1100 before release of full product line-up. Some "me too" websites supplied the previous (non-magnetic) Epson toner, permanently damaging the integral developer units of their customers' machines
2007: Amongst other things: 31,000 test prints on the HP 2600 and 33 actual refills performed before product release
2008: OKI C5650 / C5750 refills, Epson C2600 and HP CP1215 / CP1515n refill toner all released after thorough checking in own lab
2009: Somewhat eclipsed by publicity surrounding someone called Mr. Obama, but still managed to release some fine products
2010: Brother HL-3040CN / HL-3070CW refills released with full analysis of issues posed by starter cartridges and 3 approaches to getting round them. Samsung ML-1910 / ML-1915 and other Samsung monos added to the merry throng.
2011: Perfected Samsung ML-1665 series with the addition of a hand tool that allows the cartridge to be refilled in any office without the need for an electric drill. Amongst others, toner refills developed in lab for Samsung CLP-620, Kyocera FS-C5100 and HP's CP1025 and CP1525. Lexmark C543 and OKI C310/C510 are still stuck for a chip that works properly, although we've had the printers for over a year now.
